‘They love me a lot’: Shivakumar’s jibe at CBI approaching SC in DA case

Image
Bengaluru : Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Monday quipped the Central Bureau of Investigation “loves him a lot” as the agency approached the Supreme Court challenging the withdrawal of permission to probe the disproportionate assets case. “They (the CBI) are in love with me and not leaving me,” he told media persons here. “As per the law of the country, the CBI’s petition has been dismissed by the Karnataka High Court. Now, they have approached the Supreme Court,” he said. Asked whether the move is political, Shivakumar retorted: “What else could be possible?” “It is political. Can they take action against the BJP leaders even as the cases are pending against them? For the CBI, it is the only dismissed case in the entire country to be taken up for investigation against a politician. One can understand how seriously they are doing it,” he maintained. Karnataka economy outpaces national growth: CM Siddaramaiah

Image
Bengaluru : Karnataka continues to drive India’s economic progress, registering a robust GSDP growth of 10.2 per cent in FY 2023-24, significantly surpassing the national average of 8.2 per cent, the Chief Minister’s Office said in a statement on Monday. The CMO’s media release quoted data from the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI). The state achieved this feat despite severe challenges, including the worst drought in a decade and a slowdown in global IT markets, the report said. “Initially, the National Statistical Estimate (NSE) had projected a modest 4 per cent GSDP growth for Karnataka, but this was revised to 13.1 per cent by the end of the fiscal year, indicating early underestimation of the state’s economic performance. The state’s agriculture sector faced negative growth due to drought conditions, while Karnataka’s dependence on the IT and hardware sectors — accounting for 28 per cent of its Gross State Value Added (GSVA) — made it vulnerable

There must be mutual understanding between BJP and JD-S, says Kumaraswamy

Image
Bengaluru: Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy said on Saturday that there must be mutual understanding from both sides — his party JD-S and its alliance partner BJP — while contesting the upcoming bypolls in the state, and also over the matter of naming the candidate for the prestigious Channapatna Assembly seat. Speaking to reporters in Mandya, Kumaraswamy said that a meeting would be held in Bengaluru to discuss the all issues. “Former CM B.S. Yediyurappa and other leaders will join us, and we will discuss together. I want everything to proceed smoothly. No one should try to dominate anyone. The election should be contested with love and trust, and trust should not be broken. Both party leaders must understand this. It’s not enough for love and trust to exist only on one side; there must be mutual understanding from both sides,” the Union Minister said.
