Shivakumar will become CM on Jan 6: Congress MLA

Ramanagara: A ruling Congress MLA, H A Iqbal Hussain, on Saturday predicted that Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar will become Chief Minister on January 6.

He said the post, presently occupied by Siddaramaiah, should be vacated for Shivakumar. Shivakumar should be given a chance to become chief minister, the Ramanagara MLA told reporters.

“There is a 99 per cent chance that he becomes chief minister on January 6,” Hussain, who is a staunch supporter of Shivakumar, said.

When asked what significance the date has, he said, “I don’t know. It’s just a random number. Everybody is saying this. It can either be January 6 or 9. These are the two dates.”

Hussain has been demanding that Shivakumar should be made the chief minister. On Friday, he had made his wish public.

Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Railways and a BJP MP, V Somanna, said that he is supporting Home Minister G Parameshwara for the CM post.

“Getting power is luck. I never dreamt that Parameshwara would remain just as the Home minister. It is our wish to see him as CM. Not just me but the people of Tumakuru have this desire to see him as the CM,” Somanna said at a programme in Tumakuru.

When someone from the audience asked about D K Shivakumar, who is a strong contender for the post, Somanna said, “Leave it. That’s secondary. What Shivakumar wants to become depends on his luck. Conduct is even bigger than luck.”

Bengaluru: Bus conductor fails to return Rs 1; court orders BMTC to pay Rs 3K as compensation

The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) was recently ordered to pay a man Rs 2,000 in compensation after he was denied Rs 1 change for a bus ride by the Bengaluru Urban District Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission. According to several media reports, in 2019, a man named Ramesh Naik went on a BMTC bus from Shantinagar to Majestic bus depot, during which the conductor issued a ticket for Rs 29. The complainant paid Rs 30 and was not given the change. Keeping up the fight, Naik then complained about the conductor to BMTC’s high authorities. To his surprise, the authorities made fun of him and drove him away. Unhappy with this, he filed a complaint with the local consumer court, asking Rs 15,000 in compensation. Karnataka: BJP MLA used HIV positive women to honey trap rivals, probe launched

In a shocking revelation, a 40-year-old woman has accused Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) MLA Munirathna of raping her, claiming that the MLA used a honey-trapping scheme involving women infected with HIV to target his rivals. Police on September 18 registered a case against Munirathna for repeated rape, sexual harassment, and voyeurism following a complaint filed by the woman. In her complaint, she alleged that Munirathna sexually assaulted her in March 2020 and continued to rape her for the next two years. She further asserted that he used to threaten and force her into unlawful acts, including honey-trapping political rivals.
