Sira witnesses its first 3-cornered contest

Since 1957, the Sira assembly segment in Tumakuru district has elected a Congress or a JD(S) candidate. In the past three elections, BJP was a distant third. But it has put up a stronger fight this time, making the November 3 bypoll a three-party contest for perhaps the first time in Sira’s electoral history.
