A B'luru woman pilot who flew rescue missions

In the late 1940s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel travelled across the country in his historical effort to unify India after independence from the British. Much to the surprise of Patel, a young girl in her early 20s from Bangalore was often one of the pilots for his flights and soon became his close friend. She would go into history as the first Indian lady pilot of independent India and the first graduate of the flying club in Jakkur at a time when women in aviation was a rarity.
