Brain-dead plumber from Bengaluru saves 3 lives

A 31-year-old man from KR Puram, who was declared brain dead following an accidental fall at his workplace, breathed new life into three ailing people. The man’s heart, lungs, liver and corneas were harvested with the consent of his family members. This happens to be the first cadaver donation in Karnataka since March.

Bengaluru : The Karnataka Lokayukta, which is probing the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land scam matter in which Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was named as one of the accused, has sought more time from the court to submit the final report. Considering the plea, Judge Santhosh Gajanan Bhat of the Special Court for MLAs/MPs in Bengaluru has posted the matter for hearing on February 24. The counsel representing the prosecution submitted that Lokayukta ADGP A. Subramanyeshwara Rao is reviewing the report and requested additional time for submission due to technical reasons. Bengaluru: As the situation continued to be tense in the border areas of Karnataka and Maharashtra following the attack on the RTC bus conductor in Belagavi for allegedly not responding in Marathi, the family of the minor girl involved in the case on Tuesday announced that they have decided to withdraw the POCSO case. The mother of the girl has also appealed to the people of Karnataka and Maharashtra states not to blow the incident out of proportion. The mother in the video stated, “The incident had taken place when my son and daughter went to the hospital after getting a ticket. The conductor had used bad language. Over 397 cr women availed free travel scheme till date, claims Karnataka govt

Bengaluru: The Congress-led Karnataka government has released official statistics on the beneficiaries and expenditure of one of its flagship schemes, the Shakti Scheme, which enables free travel for women across the state in RTC buses. According to an official statement from the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), a total of 397.97 crore women passengers have availed of the scheme from its launch on June 11, 2023, until February 21, 2025. The ticket value of these passengers stands at Rs 9,743.09 crore. This figure includes passengers from KSRTC, Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), North West Karnataka Transport Corporation (NWKRTC), and Kalyan Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KKRTC). On February 21, 2025, a total of 74.07 lakh women passengers travelled on RTC buses, with the ticket value amounting to Rs 20.19 crore.
