On August 3, the administration had emailed graduating students stating that the annual convocation would be held on September 12. Bengaluru : The Karnataka High Court has quashed the chargesheet filed against a resort owner in connection with an alleged rape of a US woman at a homestay in Kodagu, observing that there was no statutory basis to prosecute the private individual for allegedly failing to inform police about the offence. Justice M. Nagaprasanna passed the order while allowing a petition filed by P. Ponnappa, owner of the resort, challenging the chargesheet filed by Kutta police before the Civil and JMFC Court in Ponnampet on June 7, 2026. The court said there was insufficient evidence to establish the offences alleged against the petitioner. It also noted that the Foreigners Act , 1946, had been repealed with effect from September 1, 2025. The incident occurred on KR road after a procession from Kumaraswamy Layout crossed the Banashankari police limits and entered Basavanagudi. “Punith Kerehalli of the Rashtra Rakshana Pade and others came there holding saffron flags and raising slogans of ‘ Jai Shri Ram ‘,” police said in a statement on Thursday. Bengaluru: An Indian passenger was on Wednesday, August 26, apprehended by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel at the Bengaluru airport for trying to smuggle 82 grams of suspected gold by concealing it in capsules placed inside his mouth, an officer said. The incident took place at Terminal 1 of the Kempegowda International Airport around 7:30 am when the male traveller was undergoing security frisking by the personnel to board a flight to Ghaziabad. He had landed early morning from Dubai , the officer said. “During routine passenger security screening, CISF personnel noticed that the passenger was behaving suspiciously and was not responding appropriately during the screening process,” the CISF officer said.
