Two members of interstate ‘TATTO 313’ burglary gang arrested

Udupi : Manipal police in Udupi district have arrested two members of an alleged interstate house burglary gang known as ‘TATTO 313’ and recovered gold ornaments and mobile phones worth approximately ₹7.90 lakh. The arrested accused have been identified as Darshan R. (21) from Bengaluru and Chandru (26) from Davanagere district. Police said the duo was involved in a series of house burglaries targeting locked residences located near railway stations across Karnataka and neighbouring states. The arrests were made during the investigation of a house theft reported in the Manipal police station limits. According to the complaint, Amit Daniel, a resident of the area, had locked his house and travelled to his mother’s residence on February 3. Kalaburagi–Bengaluru flight service to resume from june 10

Kalaburagi : Air connectivity between Kalaburagi and Bengaluru has finally brought relief to passengers, with services set to resume from June 10 after an eight-month suspension. According to Kalaburagi airport director Kishore Killampalli, the flight operations between the two cities will officially restart from Tuesday after the state government extended financial support to the operator. Airline company Star Air will operate daily services on this route, restoring crucial air connectivity between North Karnataka and the state capital. The resumed service will use the 76-seater Embraer 175 (E175) aircraft. As per the revised schedule, the flight will depart from Bengaluru at 6:30 am and arrive in Kalaburagi at 7:40 am. After a short turnaround time of 30 minutes, it will depart from Kalaburagi at 8:10 am and return to Bengaluru. Karnataka HC dismisses PIL on Gandhi assassination inquiry

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court has dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking directions to the Union Government to constitute a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to investigate why no judicial commission was appointed to inquire into the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi until 1965. A division bench headed by Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru rejected the petition filed by Bengaluru resident KN Manjunath and imposed a cost of Rs 10,000 on the petitioner for what it termed a misuse of judicial time. During the hearing, the bench observed that a similar plea had been filed earlier and that the petitioner had once again approached the court with substantially the same set of demands. The court noted that the petition did not disclose any genuine element of public interest and amounted to an unnecessary burden on the judicial system. The bench directed the petitioner to deposit the penalty amount with the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority within two weeks....

Karnataka private bus fares to increase by up to 8 pc from June 9

Udupi: Passengers travelling in private stage carriage buses across Karnataka will have to pay higher fares from June 9, with operators announcing a fare revision of five to eight per cent. The decision was announced by State Federation of Private Stage Carriage Bus Owners’ Associations president Kuyiladi Suresh Nayak. Fuel prices witnessed a steady rise over the past year. The government had earlier increased diesel tax by Rs 3 per litre, while the Centre raised fuel prices in four phases, resulting in an overall increase of Rs 8.17 per litre. These hikes have significantly impacted operational expenses for bus operators. Addressing a press conference in Udupi, Nayak said the bus industry is facing severe financial pressure due to rising diesel prices, increasing maintenance costs, higher prices of spare parts and growing employee wages.
