Bengaluru : Karnataka Law Minister H K Patil on Thursday, May 28, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah informed him and other ministers of his decision to step down and also disclosed that Deputy CM D K Shivakumar will be his successor. Patil, who is also the Parliamentary Affairs Minister said that Siddaramaiah will visit Raj Bhavan at 3 pm to tender his resignation and the change in the leadership is in compliance with the directions of the Congress high command. Muslims in Hangal, Hassan decide against cow slaughter during Bakrid

Hassan : In a significant gesture aimed at promoting communal harmony, Muslim communities in Karnataka’s Hangal and Hassan regions have decided not to slaughter cows, bulls, buffaloes or oxen during this year’s Bakrid celebrations. Addressing a press conference, Anjuman Islam Hangal Committee president Nazir Ahmed Savanur said various Anjuman committees and Panch committees of Hangal taluk held a joint meeting on Monday and unanimously resolved against cattle slaughter during the festival . Three of family, including infant, killed in horrific road accident near Raibag

Belagavi : In a tragic road accident that occurred early Tuesday morning on the outskirts of Raibag town in Belagavi district, a couple and their nine-month-old baby were killed on the spot after a goods auto allegedly coming on the wrong side rammed into their motorcycle. The deceased have been identified as Mahantesh Mane (27), his wife Sakshi Mane (23), and their infant son Samarth, residents of Bommanal village in Raibag taluk. Another child travelling with the family sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment. According to police , the family was travelling from Bommanal village towards Raibag town on a motorcycle when the accident took place. Bidar : In a major breakthrough in the sensational Rs 45 crore scam that rocked the Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University in Bidar, Lokayukta police have arrested six accused, including former Vice-Chancellor H. D. Narayanaswamy, after the alleged financial fraud was found to be genuine during investigation. The arrested accused include former Vice-Chancellor H.D. Narayanaswamy, former financial controller K.L. Suresh, along with Mrutyunjaya Hiremath, Bopanna, Manjunath and Ramagonda. According to Lokayukta officials, the scam took place during 2017-18 when university officials and private suppliers allegedly siphoned off more than Rs 45 crore of public money by creating fake purchase bills for materials that were never actually procured. Investigators revealed that fake invoices and fabricated records were allegedly prepared in the name of purchasing equipment and materials for the university.
