Bengaluru : A 29-year-old tech professional has allegedly died by suicide after her 11-month-old son was suspected to have accidentally drowned in a bucket of water at their residence here, police said on Thursday. The incident occurred on April 1 within the limits of the Chandra layout Police Station , they said. Police said a letter written in English by the woman was found near the bed, in which she stated that their son had fallen into water and died and that she could not save him, and sought forgiveness. The matter came to light after the woman’s husband, Mahantesh Wali, an engineer, filed a complaint with the police, officials said. The couple had been living in a rented house for the past four years, and they had a 11-month-old son, Agasthya, they added. Bengaluru: Karnataka government on Wednesday, April 1, launched an awareness campaign for Census 2027 Self Enumeration, urging citizens to complete their details online and cooperate fully with enumerators during the upcoming house listing operations. The Self Enumeration process will be open from April 1 to April 15, 2026, enabling residents to submit their Census details through the official portal, a statement issued by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s Office said. The campaign highlights a simple digital process, including login through mobile number and OTP, selecting a location, marking the house on the map, filling in household details, and generating a Self Enumeration reference ID. Bengaluru: A techie couple from Hyderabad allegedly died by suicide at their house in Karnataka’s Bengaluru , police said on Tuesday, March 31. The deceased have been identified as Bhanu Chandar Reddy (Babu Reddy) and his wife Shazia. Both of them worked as software engineers in private companies. According to police, Reddy died by hanging himself from the ceiling in his house on Monday, March 30 night. Seeing him dead, Shazia allegedly jumped from the 17th floor of the building they were residing in. The couple had been married for around nine years and had been in a live-in relationship earlier. Kothanur police have registered a case, and further investigation is underway. New Delhi: A woman was killed after she was struck with a gas cylinder by her husband in southeast Delhi’s Pul Prahladpur area, police sources said on Monday, March 30. The incident came to light after police received information about a domestic dispute turning violent in the locality. A police team rushed to the spot and found the woman critically injured , a source said. She was rushed to a nearby hospital , where she was declared dead. Bengaluru: The Karnataka Legislative Assembly has debated whether students should be encouraged to clean school premises to improve their hygiene habits. School Education and Literacy Minister Madhu Bangarappa said he would welcome this if the House is willing to pass legislation in this regard. He, however, said that factors like “child rights” should be considered.
