Bengaluru : Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday reacted sharply to a reporter who asked about a possible leadership change and dismissed speculation that his deputy D K Shivakumar could take charge in November. The reporter sought the chief minister’s reaction to reports claiming that Shivakumar had set November 21 as the date to take oath as the next CM. “Has he (Shivakumar) told you? Bengaluru authorities dump garbage outside houses to educate residents

Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML) authorities on Thursday, October 30, began an unconventional cleaning drive that involves dumping garbage near the houses of habitual offenders. Termed as ‘Kasa Surisuva Habba’, which translates to garbage dumping festival, the authorities took the initiative after repeated programmes failed to keep the city clean. Several residents woke up to find the same garbage they threw outside their homes dumped by the authorities themselves. They were also reportedly fined up to Rs 10,000, a report by DH said. Karnataka HC issues interim stay on SIT probe in Dharmasthala case till Nov 12

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Thursday ordered an interim stay on the the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into allegations of “multiple murders, rapes and burials” in the temple town of Dharmasthala, until November 12. Justice Mohammad Nawaz passed the interim order on a petition filed by activists Girish Mattanavar, Mahesh Thimmarodi, Jayant T, and Vittal Gowda, who had earlier supported former sanitation worker C N Chinnaiah in filing a first complaint alleging multiple murders and burials in Dharmasthala. The four had approached the court seeking to quash an FIR registered by the Dharmasthala police in connection with the case. A controversy erupted after a complainant, later identified as Chinnaiah and arrested on charges of perjury, claimed burying a number of bodies, including those of women with signs of sexual assault, in Dharmasthala over a period of past two decades, with the implications pointing towards the administrators of the local temple. Bengaluru : A 24-year-old gig worker was killed and his friend injured after a speeding car rammed into their two-wheeler in South Bengaluru in what police said was “a deliberate act of revenge” on Wednesday, October 29. A husband-wife duo, Manoj Kumar (34), a Kalaripayattu instructor, and Arathi Sharma (30), a homemaker, have been arrested in connection with the incident. The incident occurred on October 25, after 11:30 pm, under the Puttenahalli police station limits. According to police, the two-wheeler was hit from behind by a car that initially sped away from the scene. Kalaburagi : The peace meeting convened by the district administration to discuss permission for RSS route march and similar rallies by nine other organisations in Chittapur on November 2 has failed to reach a consensus, official sources said. The meeting was held as per the directions of the Kalaburagi bench of the Karnataka High Court , issued last Friday. Chaired by Kalaburagi Deputy Commissioner Fouzia Taranum, the meeting was attended by representatives of 10 organisations, including the RSS, Bhim Army, Bharatiya Dalit Panthers, Hasiru Sene, Karnataka Rajya Chalavadi Kshemabhivruddi Sangha, Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha, and Gonda Kuruba ST Horata Samithi, among others, officials said on Tuesday.
