While most people light diyas and burst crackers to celebrate Deepawali, residents of an old age home in Karnataka’s Mandya district turned the festival into an opportunity to spotlight civic issues. On State Highway 7, Kikkeri–KR Pet stretch, they staged a symbolic protest by decorating potholes with flower garlands and placing candles in them. A Bengaluru-based tech professional who forgot his backpack on a shuttle to Kempegowda International Airport was reunited with it within minutes, all thanks to the quick action of airport staff and the use of UPI details to trace the vehicle. The passenger, identified as Jaskaran Singh, who was travelling by a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) KIA shuttle to the airport, realised just before check-in that he had left his backpack on the bus. He immediately contacted the airport staff for help. Police open fire at cattle transporter in Karnataka

Mangaluru : Police opened fire on a man allegedly involved in illegal cattle transportation after he tried to evade arrest, officials said on Wednesday. The incident took place on Tuesday evening in Puttur taluk of Dakshina Kannada district when the accused, identified as Abdullah (40), a native of Kasaragod in Kerala , was transporting ten cattle in a vehicle, they said. According to police, when signalled to stop, Abdullah allegedly sped away, leading to a chase spanning about 10 km. Bengaluru: Karnataka Ministers on Tuesday hit out at the opposition BJP for alleging that the ruling Congress was collecting funds for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Senior BJP leaders Jagadish Shettar and B Y Raghavendra accused Congress ministers of “fundraising” for the Bihar polls, claiming that officials were being pressured to contribute, with money collected under the guise of renewals. He also stressed on the need for communal harmony for any district or state to develop and prosper. “We are bringing a law against misinformation. Karnataka: Authorities deny permission for RSS march in Chittapur

Kalaburagi : Authorities in Chittapur, the home constituency of Minister Priyank Kharge, have denied permission for the RSS route march on Sunday, citing the possibility of disruption of peace and law and order. Chittapur Town Municipal Council on Saturday had removed cut-outs and banners installed by the RSS on the main road amid police security, stating that they were installed before giving permission for the route march. “To prevent disruption of peace and law and order in Chittapur and to avoid any untoward incidents, permission for the RSS route march scheduled for 19-10-2025 is hereby denied, and the request application is rejected,” the Chittapur tahsildar has said in his order dated October 18.
