Hyderabad-Bengaluru Vande Bharat doubles coaches to meet demand

Hyderabad: Starting July 10, passengers travelling between Hyderabad (Kacheguda) and Bengaluru (Yesvantpur) will benefit from a major capacity boost on the Vande Bharat Express. The South Central Railway has announced that the train will operate with 16 coaches, up from the previous 8, effectively doubling its passenger capacity from 530 to 1,128 seats. This expansion comes in response to sustained high demand, with the train consistently operating at over 100 percent occupancy since its launch. Karnataka man stripped, thrashed for sending obscene message, eight held

Bengaluru: A college student was allegedly kidnapped, stripped, and brutally assaulted on the outskirts of Bengaluru, after which eight people were arrested and later released on bail, police said on Monday. The incident occurred on June 30 in Nelamangala taluk, police added. The victim, identified as Kushal, a college student, was previously in a relationship with a minor girl from the same locality. However, the couple had broken up a few months ago, after which Kushal allegedly sent her obscene messages. Bengaluru: There is no association between premature cardiovascular disease in a patient and a prior history of Covid-19 infection or Covid vaccination, an expert committee tasked with investigating the recent cases of heart attack deaths in Karnataka concluded. On the contrary, a report submitted by the panel said Covid-19 vaccination has been shown to be protective against cardiac events in the long term. The state government constituted an expert committee headed by Dr Ravindranath, Director of Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research to investigate the deaths of over 20 people due to heart attacks in Hassan district. Bengaluru: Karnataka Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre on Friday suspended two officials for negligence and dereliction of duty in connection with the ‘unnatural deaths’ of five tigers in the Male Mahadeshwara (MM) Hills, officials said. The minister has also recommended the suspension of Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF) Y Chakrapani in connection with the matter, they said. A female tigress and her four cubs were found dead in the Hugyam range of the MM Hills on June 26. Khandre also recommended departmental inquiries into their conduct. Following the incident, three people — including the owner of a cow allegedly sprayed with poison and consumed by the wild cats — were arrested. Air India pilot collapses moments before operating Bengaluru-Delhi flight

Mumbai: An Air India pilot collapsed in the cockpit just before he was to operate the airline’s flight from Bengaluru to Delhi on Friday, sources said. Air India confirmed that there was a “medical emergency” involving one of its pilots in the early hours of July 4, who was rostered to operate its flight AI 2414 to Delhi from Bengaluru. “There was a medical emergency involving one of our pilots in the early hours of July 4. As a result, the pilot was unable to operate the flight AI2414 from Bengaluru to Delhi, that he was rostered for, and was taken to a local hospital immediately,” Air India said in a statement. At least ten Dalit professors at Bangalore University have resigned, alleging discrimination in assigning administrative responsibilities. According to them, they were earlier assigned administrative responsibilities in addition to their academic contributions as educators and scholars. However, recently, the Dalit professors have been given ‘in-charge’ responsibilities, which undermine their authority. They allege it deprives them of earned leave privileges, previously ‘earned’ through the aforementioned administrative responsibilities. HC stays trial court proceedings against Shivakumar in defamation case

Bengaluru : The Karnataka High Court on Friday stayed the proceedings of the trial court against Deputy Chief Minister and state Congress President D.K. Shivakumar in connection with a criminal defamation case. The bench, headed by Justice S.R. Krishna Kumar, passed the order granting relief to both Shivakumar and the Karnataka unit of the Congress party. The case in this regard was filed by the BJP’s Karnataka unit.
