Justice V Srishananda of the Karnataka High Court is in the middle of controversy again after a video went viral showing him making insensitive remarks involving women and a certain community of Karnataka. His remarks drew ire from community organisations and the legal circles. In the video which went viral, the Karnataka HC judge was seen making objectionable comments referring to women of the Nayak community in Surpur Taluk in Yadgir district. He alleged that while one is allowed to marry anyone, the women of this community are sent to stay with their leader on the first night of their marriage. He went on to add misogynistic comments that married women of the locality are “second-hand or third-hand.” His comments objectifying women drew sharp criticism from senior advocate and gender equality activist Indira Jaising. Caste census report should be in public domain: Karnataka minister

Bengaluru : Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara said on Wednesday that the caste census report should be made public. He said this while commenting on the controversial caste census report being tabled in the upcoming cabinet meeting on Thursday. Speaking to media in Bengaluru , he said, “Let the details of caste census come into the public domain. The decisions over the report are a different matter. We have seen earlier that the decisions are made based on census. I won’t be able to tell now whether there will be a discussion on it in the cabinet meeting. At least we will know about the abstract of the report. About Rs 160 crore of tax payer’s money has been spent on the caste census by the government. That report needs to come into the public domain. Bengaluru : Karnataka Congress government on Wednesday clarified that the police will investigate the involvement of more people in the horrific incident of slashing of udders of three cows in Bengaluru. Addressing the media, Home Minister G. Parameshwara said in Bengaluru , “The police have arrested one person in connection with the case. The legal action is being taken against him. If the investigation needs to be done from the angle of involvement of more persons, the police will investigate as demanded by the opposition. Six-year-old girl raped, killed in Bengaluru

Bengaluru : A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered in Bengaluru, police said on Tuesday. The incident occurred around 7.30 p.m. on Monday when the victim’s parents were out for construction work and she was alone at home in the Rammurthynagar police station area. The accused, identified as 25-year-old man Abhisheik Kumar from Bihar , has been arrested. When the accused, who also worked as a mason, found the victim alone, he lured her outside. Karnataka CM hints at tabling caste census in next cabinet meeting

Vijayanagara: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday hinted that the caste census would be tabled in the next cabinet meeting. “We received the report last year. The report has to be tabled before the cabinet. We have spent Rs 160 crore on it. Let’s see what discussion and decision takes place in the cabinet,” Siddaramaiah told reporters here. Hyderabad: Two persons were killed and 12 were injured in an accident involving a bus and a truck on the Hyderabad- Bengaluru highway early on Saturday, January 10. The accident was reportedly caused by a tyre burst. The bus driver applied a sudden break to avoid a collision with a car and rammed into the truck from behind. Speaking to Siasat.com , the Jadcherla police said, “The bus cleaner and a passenger are dead. The injured were shifted to a hospital.
