CCTV cameras in Bengaluru to monitor New Year celebrations: Karnataka Minister

Bengaluru : Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara said on Tuesday that the police department has installed 7,500 CCTV cameras across Bengaluru city to monitor the New Year celebrations and to ensure safety. Speaking to the media here, Parameshwara stated, “I would like to convey New Year wishes to the people of the state. Let the new year bring prosperity and happiness to all. We have initiated all preventive measures from the Home department.” “Our main objective is to ensure no untoward incidents take place on the occasion. Especially in Bengaluru city, seven to eight lakh young men and women gather to celebrate the new year,” he stated. “Based on our experience, the sufficient deployment of police force has been made in the city. The sensitive spots in M.G. NIA court sentences Bangladeshi man to 7 yrs in jail for radicalising Muslim youths

Bengaluru: A Bangladeshi man has been sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment by an NIA court here for radicalising Muslim youths and raising funds for terror activities. Jahidul Islam alias Kausar has also been fined Rs 57,000 in the cases connected with offences of dacoity, conspiracy and raising funds, as well as procurement of ammunition, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) said in a statement on Monday. With this, a total of 11 accused have been convicted in these cases, said the statement. As per NIA investigations, Jahidul, the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) Amir of India, along with absconding JMB head Salauddin Salehin, had illegally crossed over into India in 2014 after escaping the custody of Bangladesh police in connection with the 2005 serial blasts in Bangladesh. Shivakumar reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transparency and defended Minister Priyank Kharge against allegations linking him to a contractor’s suicide. An Indian expatriate doctor was among the two people killed after a light aircraft belonging to to Jazirah Aviation Club crashed into the sea off the Ras Al Khaimah coast in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Indian who perished in the incident on Thursday, December 26, was Sulaymaan Al Majid, a 26-year-old with Bengaluru roots who was born and raised in the UAE and a resident of the United Kingdom (UK). Renowned Israeli artist DJ Sajnka who was scheduled to perform at a party at Bolar’s City Beach in Mangaluru on Friday Night December 27 cancelled his show following strong opposition from Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal members. The right-wing members pressured local authorities to revoke permission for DJ Sajnaka’s performance which was part of the New Year celebrations. The event organizers were compelled to alter the program, with other artists stepping in to entertain the crowd instead. The organisation members raised multiple objections to the event, including allegations that DJ parties foster negative influences on youth and potentially expose them to drug-related risks.
