Shivakumar hits out at BJP, accuses it of indulging in ‘politics’

Hubballi : Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Sunday hit out at the opposition BJP, accusing it of indulging in “politics” and not showing any interest in discussing issues concerning the state and its people, during the ongoing winter session of legislature in Belagavi. He claimed that the saffron party in the state was a divided house, and hence they were not interested on discussing real issues. “BJP is not interested in any discussion, what to do?….they are not interested in anything else other than doing politics. There is no unity among them, so they are doing such things,” Shivakumar told reporters here in response to a question about issues relating to north Karnataka not being discussed in the legislature session so far. The session that began on December 9 will continue during the coming week too. Bengaluru techie suicide: Estranged wife, her mother & brother arrested

Bengaluru Police have arrested Nikita Singhania, the estranged wife of 34-year-old techie Atul Subhash, along with her mother Nisha Singhania and brother Anurag Singhania, in connection with an abetment to suicide case. The arrests occurred on Sunday, with Nikita apprehended in Gurugram, Haryana, while Nisha and Anurag were taken into custody in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. They have since been brought to Bengaluru and presented in court, where they were remanded to judicial custody. The case stems from Atul Subhash’s tragic suicide on December 9, during which he left behind a 24-page note alleging harassment by his wife and her family. In the note, he detailed demands for a substantial sum of money in exchange for withdrawing legal cases against him and for visitation rights to see his son. Bengaluru techie suicide: Wife, in-laws seek anticipatory bail

Following the death of Bengaluru techie Atul Subhash, his estranged wife, Nikita Singhania, along with three of her relatives filed for anticipatory bail in the Allahabad High Court.  Earlier this week, on December 9, Atul Subhash died by suicide at his residence leaving behind a 24-page suicide note and an 80-minute long video alleging harassment from his wife and in-laws over divorce, alimony and custody of their child. His in-laws had also demanded Rs 3 crore to settle all court cases against him. Congress not pursuing politics of vengeance: Shivakumar on Covid ‘scam’ FIR

Bengaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar clarified on Saturday that Congress was not pursuing politics of vengeance by filing an FIR concerning the Covid “scam”. Speaking to media persons, Shivakumar said, the Congress-led Karnataka government was not pursuing politics of vengeance in initiating action regarding the Covid “scam”. Renukaswamy murder case: Kannada actor Darshan, others granted bail

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Friday, December 13, granted bail to Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa in the Renukaswamy murder case. Along with Darshan, the court also gave bail to his friend Pavithra Gowda and seven others who are still in jail in connection with the case. The actor was arrested on June 11 this year for allegedly killing Renukaswamy, his fan, on June 8 for sending obscene messages to Pavithra Gowda. The actor was earlier lodged at the Parappana Agrahara Jail in Bengaluru. Still, when a viral photograph showed him relaxing with some jail inmates, he was transferred to Ballari Central Jail. Darshan is presently hospitalised for back pain. Bengaluru : The Karnataka High Court has set aside an FIR filed against BJP Yuva Morcha president and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya. The FIR, registered by the Haveri police under 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), was based on a social media post Surya made concerning a farmer’s suicide, which he linked to alleged Waqf Board land claims. The petition, filed by Surya, argued that the FIR was baseless and politically motivated. Bengaluru : Karnataka Police have arrested the mother-in-law and brother-in-law of late Atul Subhash, who committed suicide on December 9 over alleged demand by his wife’s family for Rs 3 crore as settlement. The sensational case has triggered debate over harassment of married men and misuse of dowry provisions in the country. Atul Subhash ended his life on Monday leaving behind a 40-page death note and 90-minute video explaining how he was allegedly tortured by his wife. The Karnataka Police arrested Nisha Singhania, Atul’s mother-in-law and brother-in-law Anurag Singhania on Thursday night. Atul’s wife Nikita Singhania is absconding and police have launched a hunt for her, sources stated on Friday. The accused were arrested in the limits of Jaunpur police station limits in Uttar Pradesh.
