Karnataka bypolls: Congress leads in all 3 segments, Nikhil trails

Bengaluru: As the counting for three Assembly segments for which bye-elections were held was progressing in Karnataka on Saturday, the Congress was leading in all three seats and also taking major leads in two segments. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) which was leading in all three Assembly segments early on has suffered a setback. Importantly, the Congress has registered a lead by a huge margin in the high-profile Channapatna constituency. Karnataka: BJP protests over alleged Waqf Land encroachments

Bengaluru: Upping the ante following allegations by a section of farmers and others in Karnataka that their lands were marked as Waqf properties, the BJP on Friday held protests in various districts including here, targeting the ruling Congress government in the state over the issue. The demonstrations were held under the slogan ‘Namma Bhoomi Namma Hakku’ (Our land, Our Right) at Bengaluru, Mandya, Vijayapura, Hassan, Dharwad, Madikeri, Mysuru, Mangaluru and Koppal, among several other places. Bengaluru : Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H. D. Kumaraswamy claimed on Thursday that people want the NDA to win the Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly elections. Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Union Minister Kumaraswamy made the statement while reacting to the exit poll predictions giving edge to the BJP-led NDA alliance in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. “The exit poll predictions are one aspect. It is the wish of people the NDA emerge victorious in both Maharashtra and Jharkhand,” he said. 11L Below Poverty Line (BPL) cards revoked, claims Karnataka BJP

Bengaluru: Karnataka BJP claimed on Wednesday that the state government has cancelled at least 11 lakh Below Poverty Line (BPL) ration cards. “11 lakh BPL ration cards have been revoked by the state government. They are planning to cancel 14 lakh more cards. The government has not even issued notices before revoking these cards. If the cancellation process is not stopped, the BJP will lock down all the government offices across the state,” said Karnataka Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka while interacting with families whose BPL cards had been cancelled in the Vrushabhavathi Nagar and Nandini Layout localities of Mahalaxmi Layout Assembly constituency in Bengaluru. He added that the state government, which is “supposed” to feed the people, is “snatching” away their food, adding that the government should have empathy to ensure no one dies of hunger. Karnataka CM announces establishment of 3 dedicated global innovation districts

Bengaluru : Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday announced that the State government would establish three dedicated global innovation districts in Bengaluru, Mysuru and Belagavi. “These will be dedicated parks for GCCs (Global Capability Centres) to set up shop here in the state,” he said after inaugurating the 27th edition of Bengaluru Tech Summit (BTS) here. He noted that the State had recently launched India’s first dedicated Global Capability Centres (GCC) policy, aimed at empowering and supporting these centres. The three-day tech conclave is organised by the State government’s Department of Electronics, IT and BT, with Australia being the official country-partner for the event. SpaceX successfully launches ISRO’s 4,700 kg communication satellite from US

Bengaluru: The country’s latest communication satellite, GSAT-N2 was successfully launched by billionaire Elon Musk-founded SpaceX from Cape Canaveral in the US, ISRO’s commercial arm NSIL has said.
