Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court has declined to quash a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case against a school teacher accused of recording videos of girl students while they were changing clothes. The accused, employed at a residential school for children from backward communities in Kolar district, is facing charges of sexual harassment under the POCSO Act. Justice M Nagaprasanna, in a recent ruling, described the teacher’s actions as “horrendous” and highlighted the severity of the charges. Hassan: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday inaugurated the first phase of Rs 23,000 crore Yettinahole Comprehensive Drinking Water Supply Project at the Bykere Doddanagara Pump House in Karnataka’s Hassan district. After the inauguration, the chief minister said that the second phase of the project will be completed by 2027, ensuring drinking water supply to lakhs of homes across seven districts. As many as 75.59 lakh people in 38 towns and 6,657 villages will benefit from this project while 527 tanks in the seven districts will be filled with 9.953 TMC of water. “Yettinahole is a two-phase project. The first phase has been inaugurated. The second phase will be completed by 2027, and the entire project will be successfully implemented. This project will benefit lakhs of people. Bengaluru : A concerning incident has come to light in Bengaluru on Thursday involving a young woman being abused, slapped, and harassed by a middle-aged auto driver associated with Ola for cancelling a ride. The incident has been reported to the police, and an investigation has been launched. 2 school students killed, 3 critically injured in Karnataka road accident

Raichur: Two school students were killed and three critically injured when the school bus they were travelling in collided head-on with a government bus at Kapagal in Raichur district on Thursday, police said. The bus with 42 students was heading for a private school when the accident occurred. “Two have died, three have sustained critical injuries, (some) other children have sustained serious injuries. The injured are being treated in a nearby hospital,” a police officer told PTI. Police sources said some children lost their limbs in the accident. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah condoled the death of two school children. “Free treatment will be arranged for the children injured in the incident, the family of the deceased children will be compensated by the state government. I share the grief of parents who have lost their children,” he added. Bengaluru: Over 100 film professionals on Wednesday urged the Karnataka government to appoint a committee led by a retired judge to address the sexual harassment issue in the Kannada film industry. In a letter addressed to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, sent on behalf of Film Industry for Rights & Equality (FIRE), 153 film professionals, including actors Kiccha Sudeep and Ramya, demanded the government to “conduct a thorough investigation into the systematic issues faced by women in KFI, including sexual harassment”.
