Karnataka: 2 found dead with bullet injuries; murder-suicide suspected

Hassan: Two persons were found dead with bullet injuries in this district headquarters town on Thursday, police said. The police suspected it to be a “case of murder and suicide.” According to Hassan Superintendent of Police Mohammad Sujeetha M S, the two persons had come to Hoysala Nagar here in a car and were seen having heated exchanges over some issue near a plot. Former Indian cricketer David Johnson found dead in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Former Indian cricketer David Johnson was found dead outside his apartment on Thursday, police said. “It is believed that 52-year-old David Jude Johnson fell from his Apartment in Kanaka Sri Layout in Kothanur giving rise to the suspicion of suicide,” a police official said, adding, further investigations are on. The cricketer was not keeping well for quite some time, police sources said. Johnson, a former fast bowler, is survived by wife, a son and a daughter, they said. The cricketer had played two tests for India in 1996. 2 from Bengaluru die due to heat stroke during Hajj in Saudi Arabia

Bengaluru: Two pilgrims from Bengaluru are among the hundreds of people who died during this year’s Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia as the faithful faced intense high temperatures at Islamic holy sites in the desert kingdom, officials said on Thursday. The deceased have been identified as Kouser Rukhsana (69) and Abdul Ansari (54), residents of RT Nagar and Frazer Town, respectively, they said. Due to the intense heatwave, the two pilgrims from Bengaluru, like many other nationals, died of dehydration and sunstroke. Bengaluru: Karnataka BJP on Thursday held “Cycle Jatha” here, as part of its state-wide protest against the Congress government’s decision to hike petrol and diesel prices. The snake, suspected to be a spectacled cobra, was stuck in the adhesive tape used for the packaging, said the couple, who had ordered an Xbox controller from the online retail giant. The couple, IT professionals from Sarjapur who wished not to be named, then made a video which went viral. Valmiki corporation ‘scam’: SIT seizes over Rs 1.49 cr from AP accused

Bengaluru:  In its latest development in the ongoing investigation of the Valmiki Development Corporation scam, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) officials have seized a staggering sum of Rs 1.49 crore from the home of the accused Nageswarao. The residence at Jakkur in the city was raided on Sunday revealing a substantial sum of money, which was drawn from a bank in Hyderabad by the accused who is also a native of Hyderabad. Sources close to the investigation have revealed that the money seized is believed to have been in the hands of several individuals, with the residence acting as a sort of safehouse for the illegal funds. This marks the latest seizure in the ongoing investigation, following the confiscation of Rs 8.21 crore from another accused, Satyanarayan Verma, on June 12.
