‘Its liquor guarantee govt’, says ex-Karnataka CM Bommai on opening of wine shops

Bengaluru : Former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai termed the incumbent Congress government in Karnataka as a ‘liquor guarantee government’ as it has failed to provide water in the current drought but is making preparations make liquor available everywhere. Bengaluru : Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has given directions to the state police authorities to ensure peace and law and order in Bengaluru on Tuesday in the view of the bandh call given by various organisations opposing the release of water to Tamil Nadu. CM Siddaramaiah held a meeting of top police officers at his official residence ‘Cauvery’ here. Speaking to reporters later at Vidhana Soudha, he said that the BJP and JD(S) were doing politics over the Cauvery issue. “The opposition parties, which are demanding my resignation now, had not discussed it at the all-party meeting,” he stated. As Karnataka and Tamil Nadu tussle over Cauvery water , various trade unions and farmer groups have called for a bandh in Bengaluru on September 26 between 6 am to 6 pm. New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday flagged off nine Vande Bharat trains connecting religious and tourist destinations across 11 states. The nine trains will provide faster connectivity across 11 states — Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Bihar, West Bengal, Kerala, Odisha, Jharkhand and Gujarat. The Prime Minister flagged off the trains through video conferencing. The new Vande Bharat trains will run between: Udaipur Jaipur; Tirunelveli-Madurai- Chennai; Hyderabad Bengaluru; Vijayawada Chennai (via Renigunta); Patna Howrah; Kasaragod – Thiruvananthapuram; Rourkela – Bhubaneswar Puri; Ranchi Howrah; and Jamnagar-Ahmedabad.
