Bengaluru : As the BJP boycotted the last day of the Assembly session and continued to protest in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue in the premises of the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru on Friday, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah taunted them by saying that they should have protested before the statue of Nathuram Godse. BJP legislators from the Legislative Assembly and Council gathered in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and raised slogans against the ruling Congress government for suspending 10 BJP MLA’s from the House. College principal arrested in Karnataka for sexually assaulting minor

Shivamogga : The Karnataka Police on Friday said that the principal of a college in Shivamogga district has been arrested for sexually assaulting a minor girl. The incident took place in the limits of the Kote police station and the victim’s family has lodged a complaint in connection to the case. The accused was been booked under the POCSO Act and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Two arrested for selling drug-laced chocolates to students in Karnataka

Mangaluru : Two persons were arrested for selling chocolates laced with drugs in Mangaluru city of Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada district, said the police on Friday, adding that students and young workers were their prime targets. The arrested have been identified as 45-year-old Bechan Sonar from Uttar Pradesh and 49-year-old Manohar Shet from Mangaluru. The accused were arrested by Mangaluru South Police. According to police, Sonar had put up a small stall and sold chocolates laced with drugs. New Delhi: Homegrown quick-grocery delivery provider Dunzo has said it will not be able to pay employees salaries until early September, a further delay from the earlier deadline of July 20. The company has also delayed the August salary for senior employees to September 4 as well, it said in an email seen by TechCrunch. The delay comes as the startup focuses on “streamlining our cash flow so we can build a more sustainable business for the future”, according to the Bengaluru-headquartered startup. To improve its financial health, Dunzo reportedly capped employee salaries at Rs 75,000 per month, irrespective of their pay packages. “We need your support as we work through this,” the company wrote in the email. “For those team members who were expecting the balance payouts of their June salary during this week, we regret to inform you that this has been delayed. Bengaluru: Ten BJP MLAs were suspended from the Karnataka Legislative Assembly for the remainder of the session by Speaker U T Khader for their “indecent and disrespectful conduct” in the House on Wednesday The 10 MLAs are Dr C N Ashwath Narayan, V Sunil Kumar, R Ashoka, Araga Jnanendra (all former ministers), D Vedavyasa Kamath, Yashpal Suvarna, Dheeraj Muniraj, A Umanath Kotian, Arvind Bellad and Y Bharath Shetty. Bengaluru : Five people who were radicalised to carry out terror attacks have been arrested by the Central Crime Branch with firearms and ammunition along with 12 mobile phones confiscated from them, Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda said on Wednesday. Seven pistols, 45 live cartridges, a bunch of walkie-talkies, and some daggers were seized from the terror suspects, the police officer said. A huge consignment of explosives were also retrieved from their possession. “The Central Crime Branch has succeeded in busting the anti-social forces and foiled their nefarious designs. They were arrested after raiding a place under Hebbal police station limits,” Dayananda told reporters. The suspects were radicalised by T Nazeer, who is an accused in the 2008 Bengaluru serial bomb blasts case, and another accused living abroad.
