Karnataka: Teacher suspended for criticising CM Siddaramaiah

A government school teacher was suspended after he criticised the newly elected chief minister Siddaramaiah for his new policies. The suspension came on the same day when the senior Congress leader took oath. According to reports, the teacher, Shantanamurthy MG from Chitradurga district, shared a Facebook post that read, “When SM Krishna was the CM, the debt was Rs 3590 crore. During Dharam Singh, H D Kumaraswamy and B S Yediyurappa, Sadananada Gowda and Jagadish Shettar’s tenures the debt was Rs 15,635, Rs 3545, Rs 25,653, Rs 9464 and Rs 13, 464 crores respectively. Bengaluru : An old building collapsed in Vidyaranyapura in Bengaluru after heavy rains lashed the city on Sunday, officials said. No casualties were reported, officials added. Heavy rainfall accompanied by hailstorms lashed Bengaluru on Sunday leading to severe water-logging in several parts of the city. The rains disrupted normal activities for residents in different parts of the city. Trees were uprooted in several localities and severe water-logging was witnessed in an underpass in the KR circle area. People stuck in the underpass were safely rescued and taken to the hospital. Bengaluru: Woman drowns after car gets stuck in neck-deep water

Bengaluru: A woman drowned on Sunday after a car she was travelling in with her family got stuck in neck-deep water at KR Circle underpass, just a stone’s throw from Vidhana Soudha, the seat of power in Karnataka. Fire and emergency services personnel saved five others of the family and the driver, with the help of people who had rushed to save those trapped in the flooded underpass in the heart of the city. The victim as well as the others were taken to St Martha’s Hospital where doctors declared the woman, identified as Bhanurekha, dead. Learning about the incident, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah rushed to the hospital and took stock of the situation.
