Bengaluru : Karnataka’s Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah on Tuesday challenged the BJP government to finish him off if they have the capacity. “I am ready to face any consequences. It is not so easy to finish me off,” he said in the Assembly in response to Higher Education Minister C.N. Ashwath Narayan’s remarks in a public rally to finish Siddaramaiah off like how Tipu Sultan was finished. Ashwath Narayan had later expressed his regrets over the statements and clarified that his intention was to defeat Siddaramaiah in elections. Bengaluru: Working women and schoolchildren will get free rides in public buses from April 1, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said here on Tuesday. Speaking after dedicating KSRTC’s Volvo Multi Axel BS4-9600 sleeper buses ahead of the polls here, he said the purpose of chalking out this scheme was to enable women become self-reliant. They need to introduce mini school buses and the existing buses will be utilised to start the operation. At the time of starting schools, a minimum of five buses must be operated in each taluk. Bengaluru: A Pakistani national who crossed the border and married an Indian she was in love with here, has been sent back, police said on Tuesday. Investigations had revealed that 19-year-old Ikra Jivani has no suspicious or criminal background. She had crossed over only to marry her lover Mulayam Singh Yadav. On January 23, she was arrested along with her husband by the Bellandur police. Ikra, a resident of Hyderabad in Pakistan, got introduced to Yadav through online game Ludo. They fell in love and decided to get married. Ikra went to Kathmandu in Nepal without informing her parents. She had sneaked into India through the Birgunj border in Bihar. Bengaluru : Intensifying its election campaign in poll-bound Karnataka, the Congress on Saturday launched a ‘poster war’ against the BJP by pasting ‘Kivi Mele Hoova’ (flower on the ear) on BJP posters in Bengaluru and Dakshina Kannada districts. The campaign was pursued aggressively a day after Congress MLAs tucked flowers on their ears inside the Assembly to show their protest against the unfulfilled promises made by the ruling BJP. Flower on ears is a symbolic statement in Kannada, which means making someone a fool. Two youths stabbed to death over parking row at cricket tournament in Karnataka

Bengaluru: In a tragic turn of events at a cricket tournament held ahead of the Shivaratri festival, two youths were stabbed to death by a group of people who had come to watch the match. The incident took place on Friday at the Karnataka Public School ground in Doddabelavangala village on the outskirts of the city. The deceased have been identified as Bharath kumar (23), an engineering graduate, and Prateek (17), a pre-university student. According to police officials, the youth were stabbed by four men over an argument on parking their four-wheeler inside the playground. The accused had come to watch the cricket match and were trying to park their vehicle in the ground when some of the spectators and organisers objected to it. With the argument escalating, the accused and their car were attacked. The two victims were not involved in the fight, a police official stated. However, the accused who fled the scene later accosted Bharath and Prateek, who clad in T-shirts provided by t
