Congress puts up ‘PayCM’ posters at BJP’s party office near Bengaluru

Bengaluru: The Congress in Karnataka intensified its campaign targeting Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai by pasting the ‘PayCM’ posters at the BJP’s Nelamangala office on the outskirts of Bengaluru on Friday. The party later shared the pictures of its PayCM campaign with media. The police which are probing the matter on Bommai’s instruction had arrested B R Naidu, the former chief of Congress’ Karnataka unit social media team, on Wednesday night from his residence. The PayCM QR code bearing the photograph of the Chief Minister gets directed to a website – ‘40% Sarkara’ – accusing the Bommai-led BJP government was charging 40 per cent commission on public works. Bengaluru: As many as 14 people were arrested on charges of sedition following raids by the National Investigation Agency on the offices of the Popular Front of India (PFI) and Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) in Karnataka, police said on Friday. The arrests took place in different parts of the state on Thursday, they said. Bengaluru: A local court in Chitradurga will, on Friday, pronounce its verdict on the bail petition of rape accused Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaruo in the Lingayat mutt sex scandal case. Second Additional District and Sessions’ court Judge B.K. Komala, who had earlier flayed the prosecution for providing preferential treatment to the accused seer and trying to shift him to Bengaluru, will pronounce the order. According to sources, the accused seer is likely to be discharged from the hospital on Friday. After the angiogram, the blood pressure, saturation reading have become normal, heart surgeons Dr Mahesh Murthy and Dr Parameshwar stated. The accused was allowed treatment at the Meggaon Hospital of Shivamogga considering his heart ailment on Wednesday. JD(S) holds demonstration inside Karnataka assembly over alleged irregularities in education institution

Bengaluru:  The Janata Dal (Secular) on Thursday staged a sit-in demonstration inside the Karnataka Assembly demanding fair probe into alleged irregularities in a prominent educational institution in Bengaluru. The JD(S) second-in-command and former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy led the agitation after the BJP government did not heed to his demand for an inquiry into the alleged irregularities. Kumaraswamy had spoken on this issue for over two hours and 10 minutes in the Karnataka Assembly, highlighting how an institution run by a public trust has slipped into the private hands. Haveri: A 75-year-old woman on Friday filed a petition for mercy killing before the President through the district administration on grounds of extreme physical and psychological suffering. According to district authorities, Puttavva Hanumantappa Kottura, a resident of Ranganathanagar near Ranebennur town, owned 30 acres of land. She also had seven residential houses and flats. Key PFI, SDPI activists held during NIA raids in Karnataka

Bengaluru: National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday raided the offices of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and Popular Front of India (PFI) and residences of their key office-bearers in Karnataka, detaining some of them, police sources said. Simultaneous raids were conducted by NIA in more than a dozen locations in Bengaluru, Mangaluru in Dakshina Kannada district, Kalaburagi, and Sirsi in Uttara Kannada district, official sources said. As the offices were being raided, many Muslim youth gathered and raised ‘NIA go back’ slogans in some places. Bengaluru:  Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnendra stated on Thursday that the procedure to impose a permanent ban on PFI and SDPI, that have been giving tacit support to terrorist organisations, has begun at the Central government level. These two organisations are found to be having connections with terror organisations not in Karnataka, but in other places of the country. Now, the procedure to ban them has begun, he reiterated. “Everyone knows about the misdeeds that SDPI and PFI organisations are indulging into. The world should know how they manage to get funds and who backs them. To clean the mess, that had been created by them, raids were very much necessary,” the minister opined. These organisations have grown to this proportion only with the direct and indirect support of the Congress party all these years.
