2 labourers killed, 1 hurt in Bengaluru under-construction site mishap

Bengaluru: Two labourers were killed and one injured after a mound of mud collapsed on them at an under-construction site here, police said on Wednesday. According to police, the incident occurred when the labourers were working on the foundation for a pillar in Siddharth Colony, Madiwala on Tuesday evening, during which a sudden mudslide trapped three of them under the debris. Raza Uddin Ansari (33) and Lal Madan (32) died, while Saifullah (28) sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment, they said. KSRTC hikes fares on Bengaluru-Mysuru route during Dasara festival

Bengaluru: In view of the Dasara festivities in Mysuru, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) on Monday announced special fare hikes on buses along the Bengaluru-Mysuru route, increasing fares by Rs 20 and Rs 30 for express, non-stop, and premier services. The special fare collection during Dasara has been in effect for the last 20 years on specific days, KSRTC said in a statement. The corporation clarified that, as per a notification from the Government of Karnataka, fares for KSRTC services operated on special days, holidays, or other occasions can be increased. Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday set a deadline of one month for the officers of the civic agency to repair all the roads in the city. He warned that the Chief Engineers will be held accountable if the deadline was not met. Addressing reporters after a meeting with his deputy D K Shivakumar and the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) officials, Siddaramaiah said Rs 750 crore has been earmarked to repair all the roads. Bengaluru : The Enforcement Directorate has arrested Karnataka Congress MLA Satish Krishna Sail in an alleged illegal iron ore export linked money laundering case, official sources said on Wednesday. The legislator from the Karwar assembly seat in Uttara Kannada was taken into custody during the intervening night of September 9-10 following his questioning at the federal probe agency’s Bengaluru zonal office, the sources said. Bengaluru: Bengaluru-based social enterprise Jana Urban Space Foundation (JUSP) has written to Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar urging him to launch a Walkable Bengaluru Mission to transform the city’s roads. Bengaluru’s roads remain unsafe and poorly designed, JUSP said in a letter, a copy of which was sent to some media houses on Tuesday. “Footpaths are often broken or encroached, utility works lack coordination, and potholes and flooding continue to persist. These systemic issues compromise mobility, safety, and accessibility-particularly for women, children, and the elderly,” read the letter to Shivakumar, who is also Minister in charge of Bengaluru.
