Bengaluru : A man duped a woman constable, attached to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), of Rs 18 lakh on the pretext of marriage in Bengaluru. According to police, the woman came in contact with accused Ashok Masti through a Kannada matrimony site while she was searching for a life partner. Masti told the victim he was preparing for a government job and would get it soon. The accused gained her trust and started visiting her residence. Masti demanded Rs 20 lakh as a dowry for marrying her, and the victim transferred money. HC stays investigation against Infosys co-founder over caste discrimination case

Bengaluru: Karnataka High Court has stayed the investigation and proceedings into a caste discrimination case booked against Infosys co-founder Senapathy Kris Gopalakrishnan and 15 others. Justice S R Krishna Kumar granted the stay on Wednesday. “Accepting the reasons stated in the application duly filed along with memorandum of facts, I.A.No.1/2025 is allowed. Karnataka MUDA scam case: ED seizes 160 sites worth Rs 300 crore

Mysuru : The Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is investigating the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam, has seized 160 sites that were allotted to various individuals in violation of rules under the 50:50 ratio formula, sources said on Wednesday. The Enforcement Directorate stated that all the sites have been seized under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, as there are indications of benami transactions involving large sums of money, according to sources. The sources said the value of these sites, based on the guidance value, is Rs 81 crore, while their market value exceeds Rs 300 crore. The ED has seized 31 sites registered in the name of one Ravi, 41 sites in the name of Abdul Wahid, 40 sites under the name of the Cathedral Society, and 48 sites belonging to various other individuals. Case against madarsa teacher for sexually assaulting minor boy in Bengaluru

Thane: The Thane police in Maharashtra have registered a case against a teacher for allegedly sexually assaulting a 10-year-old boy studying at a madarsa in Bengaluru, an official said on Wednesday. The victim’s parents are residents of Shil-Phata area in Thane city, hence they approached the police here following which the case was registered on Tuesday, he said. The victim studied at the madarsa in Bengaluru between August 2024 and January 2025. The 22-year-old accused used to call the victim to the guest room in the facility where he allegedly sexually assaulted the boy on multiple occasions, the official from Shil-Daighar police station said. The accused also threatened to kill the victim and his father if he informed about the incident to anyone, the official said. The boy later informed his parents about the offence. Infosys co-founder, 17 others booked for caste discrimination against Dalit professor

Eighteen people including Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan have been booked for caste discrimination by a former Dalit assistant professor who worked at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru. D Sanna Durgappa, who holds a PhD in zoology, taught in the department of sustainable technologies of IISc. The Dalit assistant professor filed a private complaint at a Bengaluru court which directed Sadashivanagar police to register an FIR on Monday, January 27. A private complaint is a legal complaint filed directly in court by a person when the police fail to act or if they prefer to approach the judiciary first. Durgappa joined IISc as a lecturer on July 10, 2008, and was promoted to assistant professor in 2011. Bengaluru: Unable to bear alleged harassment by his wife, a man reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself on Monday at Hubballi in Karnataka. The victim ended his life on the same day his divorce petition was scheduled for a hearing in court. The deceased has been identified as Peter. Nagaprasanna, on Monday stayed the summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife, B.M. Parvathi, and Minister for Urban Development, Byrathi Suresh, in connection with the MUDA land scam matter. A wild elephant caused panic on the Mysore-Ooty National Highway going through the Bandipur National park as it suddenly appeared and attacked a lorry to retrieve food from it.  The incident that occurred on January 25, was captured on video by onlookers and has gone viral on social media. Bidar : In a shocking incident, a gang of robbers shot dead a guard, seriously injured another, and looted an ATM cash vehicle in broad daylight in Karnataka’s Bidar city on Thursday.
