26-yr-old Karnataka IPS officer dies in accident en route to first posting

Hassan: In a tragic incident, a 26-year-old IPS officer died in a road accident in Hassan district while on his way to take up his first posting died in a road accident, police said on Monday, December 2. Harsh Bardhan was a 2023-batch IPS officer of the Karnataka cadre and hailed from Madhya Pradesh. The accident took place on Sunday evening, when the tyre of the police vehicle he was travelling in allegedly burst near Kittane in Hassan taluk, following which the driver lost control and the vehicle hit a house and a tree on the roadside. According to police, Bardhan was on his way to Hassan to report for duty as a probationary assistant superintendent of police in Holenarasipur. Bengaluru : Bengaluru and other parts of Karnataka will continue to receive rainfall for the next two days owing to the impact of Cyclone Fengal that has now weakened, the India Meteorological Department said on Monday. Bengaluru has been receiving rain since Sunday evening and as per IMD officials, Coastal Karanataka and parts of South Interior Karnataka are likely to experience widespread rainfall today, while light to moderate rainfall on Tuesday. Rainfall is likely to decrease from Wednesday onwards in these regions, the officials said. Congress to hold convention in Hassan on December 5: DyCM Shivakumar

Bengaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Sunday said the Congress would hold a convention on December 5 at Hassan to protect the Constitution. Speaking to reporters after a preparatory meeting at the KPCC office, Shivakumar, who is also the state Congress chief, said many leaders of the party have expressed their intention to hold the party convention in Hassan.
