South India farmers duped by Chennai-based ‘Donkey Palace’ in milk scam

Hyderabad: Scores of farmers across southern India were duped allegedly by a Chennai-based company “Donkey Palace” which offered high margins in the donkey milk business. The issue is affecting farmers across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. According to victims, who held a press conference at Somajiguda Press Club on Friday, the company initially sold donkeys to farmers at a premium price, promising to buy their donkey milk at a lucrative rate of Rs 1,600 per litre. Bengaluru : Karnataka High Court on Thursday granted interim relief to BJP National Yuva Morcha President and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya, staying the proceedings filed by the Haveri Police over a social media post concerning the suicide of a farmer in Haveri allegedly after taking over of his property by the Waqf board. The petition was filed by Surya seeking to quash the FIR, maintaining that the allegations lacked basis and were politically motivated. The bench headed by Justice M. Nagaprasanna, after reviewing the initial arguments, granted an interim stay on the proceedings, also pausing further action against Surya in this case. Karnataka govt decides to form SIT to probe Covid scam during BJP rule

Bengaluru : The Karnataka Congress government has decided to form the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe into the alleged Covid scam during the previous BJP government. “The world faced a big tragedy during the Covid-19 and our state also suffered a big tragedy. The then government, which had to protect people inhumanly indulged in corruption, irresponsibility, cheating towards people, concealing matters and hiding of records,” said Minister M.B. Patil. Bengaluru : Early hours of voting witnessed a good turnout in the bye-elections held for three Assembly constituencies in Karnataka on Wednesday. The Election Commission of India reported a voting turnout of 10.14 per cent between 7 A.M. and 9 A.M. The bypolls are being held for Channapatna Assembly constituency in Ramanagar district, Sandur Assembly seat in Ballary district and Shiggaon Assembly segment in Haveri district. Hyderabad : Tensions prevail in Hanakere village of Mandya district in Karnataka, after Savarna Hindus removed the diety from Sri Kalabhairaveshwara Swamy temple in the village, in protest of the government providing temple entry for Dalits. Dalits were reportedly never allowed inside the temple, facing discrimination from the village’s Savarna population. A temple reconstruction that took place a couple of years ago brought the temple under the jurisdiction of the Karnataka state government’s Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Department. This change provided the Dalits in the village with legal rights to enter the Kalabhairaveshwara temple. Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has warned that disciplinary action will be taken against those officials who change the land mutation records and serve eviction notices to farmers under the Waqf Act. In a letter, the Revenue Department Principal Secretary Rajender Kumar Kataria reminded all regional commissioners and deputy commissioners in the districts that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah recently had a meeting following complaints about certain land properties being made in favour of the Karnataka Board of Waqfs. In the meeting it was decided that all the directions issued previously by any government office or authority to change the mutation records has been withdrawn, the letter said.
