Bengaluru realtor falls to death from terrace, police say ‘no foul play’

Bengaluru: The Bengaluru-based realtor, who died under suspicious circumstances after falling from the fourth floor of a building here on Thursday, was in an inebriated state at the time of the incident, officials said on Friday while rejecting claims of foul play. Police after a preliminary investigation said that 63-year-old Munanjinappa had fallen while “walking on the terrace of the residence of his third wife in an inebriated state”. ISRO completes launch rehearsal of Aditya-L1 solar mission

Bengaluru: Giving an update on its Aditya-L1 mission to study the Sun, ISRO said on Wednesday the launch rehearsal and the rocket’s internal checks have been completed. The mission is scheduled to be launched on September 2 at 11.50 am from the Sriharikota spaceport. Aditya-L1 spacecraft is designed for providing remote observations of the solar corona and in situ observations of the solar wind at L1 (Sun-Earth Lagrangian point), which is about 1.5 million kilometres from the earth. It will be the first dedicated Indian space mission for observations of the Sun to be launched by the Bengaluru-headquartered space agency. Bengaluru: The Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscope instrument onboard ‘Pragyan’ rover of Chandrayaan-3 has unambiguously confirmed the presence of sulphur on the lunar surface near south pole, through first-ever in-situ measurements, ISRO said on Tuesday. It also said the instrument also detected aluminium, calcium, iron, chromium, titanium, manganese, silicon and oxygen, as expected. “The Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) instrument onboard Chandrayaan-3 Rover has made the first-ever in-situ measurements on the elemental composition of the lunar surface near the south pole. Compulsory Kannada in madrasas: Karnataka govt’s move hailed

Bengaluru: Kannada groups and activists have welcomed the Congress government’s decision to make the language compulsory in madrassas. Arun Javagal, state organisational secretary of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike and a software professional talking to IANS, welcomed the Congress government’s move. “This will help the children from the minority community to come to the mainstream. Kochi-Bengaluru flight receives bomb threat, passengers offloaded at Kochi airport

Kochi: A total of 139 passengers on board an Indigo flight from Kochi to Bengaluru were deboarded at the international airport here on Monday after receiving a call regarding the presence of a bomb in the aircraft. The flight — 6E6482 — was scheduled to depart for Bengaluru at 10.30 AM, CIAL said in a statement. Bengaluru: The video of a rape accused making an escape after jumping the 40 feet tall prison wall has gone viral on social media in Karnataka. New Delhi: The Karnataka government on Thursday told the Supreme Court that Tamil Nadu’s application demanding release of water from Cauvery river is wholly misconceived as it is based on an erroneous assumption that this water year is a normal one, and not a distressed water year. The Karnataka government submitted before the Supreme Court that it is not obliged to ensure water prescribed for a normal year, because a distress condition has arisen in the Cauvery basin due to the failure of southwest monsoon.
