Siddaramaiah assures to protest constitutional rights of all communities

Bengaluru : Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Friday that the constitutional rights of all communities, including Christians, will be protected in the state. Bengaluru : The Karnataka BJP has served notices to 11 party members so far for allegedly indulging in “anti-party activity” during the Assembly election, and also to those “causing embarrassment” by making public statements against it and its leaders. The party has decided to inquire into the anti-party activities and take disciplinary action against those involved. The decision was taken at a meeting of BJP leaders attended by state party president Nalin Kumar Kateel and former chief minister and parliamentary board member B S Yediyurappa among others on Friday. “It has been decided to inquire into those who have indulged in anti-party activities during the election, and take disciplinary action. Bengaluru : After successfully implementing the Shakthi scheme for free travel for women in all state transport buses in the state, Karnataka’s new Congress government is all set to launch the ambitious Anna Bhagya scheme under which 10 kg rice is promised for all members of BPL families. Minister for Food and Civil Supplies K.H. Muniyappa stated on Friday that the Anna Bhagya is being started and the government would deposit money to the bank accounts of beneficiaries on Saturday. The government has details of bank accounts of 90 percent of BPL beneficiaries, he said, adding that those who do not have bank accounts should get one done. “Each member will be given Rs 170. Until the rice is available, DBT would be made. Whenever rice is available, it would be given. In south, ragi will be given and in north, jowar would be given, along with five kg rice. Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday announced a job for a post graduate acid attack survivor during the public meeting at his residence here. The survivor, along with her parents, had come to seek his help in the Janata Darshan programme. After hearing her woes, Siddaramaiah gave directions for her employment on the spot. The survivor is a post graduate whose jilted lover had poured acid on her on April 28, 2022. Her parents explained that they had requested previous Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai for the job but only assurances were given. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had given directions of appointment on contract basis. Karnataka police had submitted a 770-page charge sheet to the court in connection with this acid attack case. Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Friday dismissed a petition filed by Twitter challenging blocking orders issued by the Central government and also imposed a cost of Rs 50 lakh on the microblogging platform. The court ruled that Twitter’s petition was devoid of merit. The bench headed by Justice Krishna S. Dixit also ruled that exemplary costs of Rs 50 lakh be paid by Twitter in a span of 45 days to the Karnataka Legal Services Authority. Rs 5,000 to be paid for every additional day if any delay in payment, the bench stated. “Twitter has not given reasons for not complying with the central government’s demands for blocking. Central agencies to procure rice for Karnatakas Anna Bhagya scheme

Three central agencies will procure rice for the Karnataka government’s flagship programme Anna Bhagya , amid allegations from the Congress that the Centre is “sabotaging” the programme. Part of the five poll guarantees of the Karnataka Congress, the Anna Bhagya scheme guarantees 10 kg of free rice to each member of households who come under Below Poverty Line (BPL). According to a New Indian Express report , the 2.28 lakh tonnes of rice required for the scheme is likely to be sourced by The National Cooperative Consumers Federation (NCCF), National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation (NAFED) and Kendriya Bhandara. The rice will be sourced from states like Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Punjab, as there is a lack of adequate stock available in Karnataka, the report added. Over 51 lakh consumers register for Karnataka govts free electricity scheme

Bengaluru : The Karnataka government on Sunday said registrations for the flagship ‘Gruha Jyothi’ scheme, offering up to 200 units of free electricity to households, has crossed 51 lakhs since the enrolment process began. A total of 51,17,692 consumers have registered for the scheme as on June 25 (Sunday), the Energy Department said in a release. Technical glitches had made it difficult for the public to register for the scheme on the online portal last week. Bengaluru: The Congress government in Karnataka has issued an order on Wednesday to provide school children studying from Class 1 to 8 with either eggs or bananas. The circular in this regard has been signed and released by Shubh Kalyan Director of PM Poshan, School Education department and directed the staff of the aided and unaided school across the state to provide boiled eggs to students as nutrition supplement. For those who are not eating eggs, bananas or chikki (a sweet dish made of groundnut and jaggery) would be provided. Bengaluru : A “world-class” tree park will be developed on New Government Electrical Factory (NGEF) premises in the eastern part of Bengaluru at an estimated cost of Rs 30 crore by retaining the existing greenery, Karnataka Medium and Large Scale Industries Minister M B Patil said on Tuesday. He was speaking after watching a presentation on the development of the proposed tree park while chairing the preliminary meeting convened in this regard.
