Belagavi : The Karnataka Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a Bill enhancing reservation for SC/STs in government educational institutions and State government services. The Bill proposes to increase the quota for the Scheduled Castes from 15 percent to 17 percent and for Scheduled Tribes from three percent to seven percent. The Bill aims to replace the ordinance passed by the government in October this year. Belagavi : The Karnataka government on Monday made wearing of masks in public places compulsory as a preventive method to tackle the evolving Covid situation in the state. Belagavi: Karnataka police have arrested a teacher on charges of sexually harassing a girl student in Sankeshwar town in Belagavi district on Monday. The accused teacher has been identified as B.R. COVID-19: China-returnee among 12 passengers test positive at Bengaluru airport

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Health department was concerned over the development of 12 passengers arriving from high-risk countries testing positive for COVID-19 at the KempeGowda International Airport Bengaluru, sources confirmed on Monday. According to authorities, a 37-year-old man, who arrived from China, had tested positive for COVID-19 in Bengaluru. The other 11 passengers came from high-risk countries. Four of them have been quarantined in a private hospital and the rest passengers have been kept in home quarantine. All the samples have been sent to genomic sequencing to the National Institute of Virology and results were expected by Monday evening or Tuesday morning. The 37-year-old man, who arrived from China, hails from Uttar Pradesh’s Agra. All the 12 were subjected to COVID-19 tests after they arrived at the airport in the last three days, authorities said. Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai stated on Saturday that guidelines will be announced soon for celebration of New Year in the state in the backdrop of fresh Covid-19 scare. Speaking to reporters in Hubballi, Bommai said Health Minister K. Sudhakar and Revenue Minister R. Ashoka will be holding a meeting on Sunday regarding the handling of Covid situation in the state. “To administer booster doses, camps would be organised on a large scale at taluk and district levels.
